Rebel Alliance: Zluta Kytice x Not Purple Strawberry (Heart) - in 2013 I found a heart shaped NPS fruit on one of my plants. I sent seeds to Blane who did not see a heart in 2014 whereas I did. The winter of 2013 Blane grew out the F1. I grew the F2 in 2014 and had several selections. There was one that seemed to be close to what I was aiming for, Purple Hearts on a Multi Floral (MF) plant.
Unfortunately, I grew these off site and when I bought home fruit, my daughter ate them after I had seeded only one. Grew the F3 in 2015 and selected for the Multifloral plant type that year. Since then it has become a staple in many gardens, though I find that here in Vermont it succumbs to Late Blight fairly early even with some intervention. In other parts of the country this is not the case and it can be a pretty massive plant and producer.
