Vermont Tomato Alchemy
Welcome to Vermont Tomato Alchemy.
I have been digging in the dirt for as long as I can remember. Though I am a long way from that “dirt pile” kid on Castlebar Road in Rochester, NY … that eventually became a fish pond. I am ever closer to my father and grandparents who were all passionate gardeners.
My maternal grandfather not only grew an amazing vegetable garden, but he was also a grower of prize winning Roses. I regularly take inspiration from looking t and holding his Best in Show Plate from Eastman Kodak.
My fraternal Grandfather was an Italian immigrant who among many occupations was a garlic farmer, also in Rochester New York. When I think about their stories I realize that if they can do it, so can I.
For the last twenty years or so I have not only been trying to figure out how to garden in Northern Vermont but how to also do so while respecting the environment, feed my family produce produced here through the winter as well as feed Blu, our Parrotlet.
Along the way, I connected with and learned from some of the best “creators”. At some point, likely because it was a fun experiment, I learned to make crosses and eventually created a few things folks around the world have grown.
Whether you have loved or hated my creations, I am humbled that you have even given them space in your garden. I hope to share past, present and upcoming creations with folks here … and maybe give a bit of history and tell a few stories along the way.
I am also a maple syrup producer and will try to provide access and information to our products here as well. It would be a challenge to manage two sales sites and as I have a history with Etsy, any sales will be linked to my products pages there. Any packs of seed made available will be limited in number and contain between 5 and 10 seeds.
Thank you and as always feel free to reach out with any comments, questions, critiques etc.
